Here’s a rare chance to see the view from the Old Head of Kinsale Lighthouse

It’s off-limits for most of the year.
But this weekend, visitors will get a rare chance to step inside one of Cork’s most breathtaking landmarks, the iconic Old Head of Kinsale Lighthouse.
Thanks to special permission granted by Old Head Golf Links and the Commissioners of Irish Lights, two exclusive open days on Saturday, May 23rd and Sunday, May 24th, will offer locals and tourists the opportunity to take in the spectacular coastal views while supporting the development of the Old Head Signal Tower and Lusitania Museum.
The final phase of the project, to build a dedicated Lusitania Museum, is ongoing with planning permission secured last year. The community group are now working to secure capital funding towards the new Lusitania Museum. All tickets bought for the Lighthouse Open Weekend go directly towards this part of the plan.
Heading down for a look? Here’s what you need to know…
Shuttle Buses will run from the Old Head Signal Tower to the Old Head Lighthouse from 9:30am to 5pm approximately every half hour across the weekend. Parking will be available at the Old Head Signal Tower, although no vehicles or walkers are permitted through the Golf Course. Disabled access to Lighthouse Grounds is available by request and only service dogs will be permitted.
There is no need to pre-book, just show up on the day. Tickets are €15 per adult, €40 for a family and it does get busy so arrive early to avoid disappointment.
The new Grounded at the Old Head Café will be open throughout the weekend, with refreshments also available at the Lighthouse Grounds.
