Opera Lane is in bloom again with summer looks aplenty landing in stores

By Yay Cork May 12, 2026May 12, 2026

Brought to you by Opera Lane.

Temperatures are still climbing but Opera Lane is already in full summer mode.

The ever-busy shopping street has just had its annual glow-up, and it’s hard to miss. Huge hanging flower balls and bright, colourful butterflies are now floating overhead, bringing a bit of instant cheer to anyone passing through (even if the weather’s not playing along just yet).

The new installation is the latest effort to brighten up the city centre for the season, and fair play—it’s doing a solid job of making things feel a bit more summery, even on a grey day.

And there’s more happening in the coming weeks. To mark the season launch, a public celebration is planned for June with a bit of a party atmosphere expected along the lane. More details on that soon.

If you’re in need of some styling inspiration before your next shopping trip, Cork fashionistas Vivienne McCarthy and Paula Price have been modelling the latest looks on Instagram.

Key picks include colourful co-ord sets in statement prints and bold colours, shirts and cardigans festooned with fun colourful illustrations and a selection of stylish light summer jackets.

So if you’re in town, it’s worth a wander through—even if it’s just to pretend summer has actually arrived.
