Kick off your Paddy’s Day early with Trad music and coffee on Barrack Street

By Yay Cork March 15, 2026March 13, 2026

Hup!

If you’re planning a day in town for St Patrick’s Day, there’s a good reason to get out the door a little earlier than usual.

The team at Alchemy Coffee will be hosting a relaxed St Patrick’s Day morning gathering on Barrack Street, with trad music, great coffee and plenty of good atmosphere to kick off the celebrations.

Taking place from 10am to 12pm on St Patrick’s Day, Tuesday, March 17th, the event invites people to swing by the café for a couple of hours of live traditional music, friendly conversation and, of course, some seriously good brews.

While many St Patrick’s Day plans revolve around pubs and late-night festivities, this event offers a different kind of start to the day — a chance to soak up the festive spirit early while enjoying a morning coffee and some live Irish tunes.

Barrack Street has become one of Cork’s most vibrant neighbourhood spots in recent years, and events like this are a great excuse to spend some time there before the city fills up for the parade and celebrations later in the day.

Whether you’re heading into the city centre afterwards or just looking for a laid-back way to mark the day, the gathering at Alchemy Coffee promises a welcoming start to St Patrick’s Day with music, coffee and plenty of good craic.

It’s also the perfect stop for a brew if you’re taking the kids to Elizabeth Fort over the weekend, where the fun will include a snake hunt and all kinds of themed craic.
