Sip, Stay, Swoon: This is the Valentine’s treat to book at The Imperial in February

By Yay Cork January 9, 2026January 8, 2026

Brought to you by The Imperial Hotel.

Want a Valentine’s escape that actually feels special?

The Imperial Hotel on Cork’s South Mall does romance with real depth — and a touch of indulgence.

This is a hotel with over 200 years of love stories behind it. From first dates and secret proposals to weddings and anniversaries, The Imperial (and its team of creative proposal planners) has seen it all.

It’s hosted everyone from Princess Grace and Prince Rainier of Monaco to Charles Dickens, Maureen O’Hara and John Wayne. Even Michael Collins spent his final night here, writing love letters to Kitty Kiernan that are still remembered today. You don’t need to be a history buff to feel the atmosphere — it’s simply a place that knows romance.

This year, Valentine’s at The Imperial is designed to be savoured at an unhurried pace.

Guests are encouraged to immerse themselves in the hotel’s historic surroundings before settling in at Fitzgerald’s, the recently unveiled bar, for drinks in an atmosphere of quiet grandeur.

Here, couples can enjoy Flights of Fancy, a curated tasting experience featuring a choice of Moët & Chandon champagne, Jameson Irish Whiskey or Redbreast, offering a refined and romantic centrepiece to the evening.

The Flights of Fancy Valentine’s Deal, bookable throughout February 2026, starts at €270 per stay and includes all of the following:

  • An overnight stay in one of The Imperial’s elegant guest rooms
  • Breakfast in Helena’s Restaurant
  • A drink flight per person — choose from Moët, Jameson or Redbreast
  • Rose petals and chocolates waiting in your room on arrival

It’s romantic, relaxed and just the right amount of special — without trying too hard.

If you love great hotels, great stories and romantic drinks shared together, this one’s hard to beat. For more information, visit imperialhotelcork.com or call 021 427 4040.
