Relief is on the way: The Marina will finally have its own public loos by next week

The Marina will finally boast a set of public loos by next week.
In an announcement that will delight many walkers, joggers, cyclists and families who use the walks and trails daily, Cork City Council’s Parks department has confirmed that the new public toilet units for the Marina Promenade are being installed alongside Cortado and will be operational next week.
“Much credit is due to the Parks section for listening to the large demands of the users of the Promenade.” Cllr Kieran McCarthy said, sharing the news on social media.
“The user numbers are way up and appreciation of the promenade and wider Marina Park features are well appreciated. The Barrington’s Folly feature opened recently. The toilets by Cortado have been asked for, demanded for. They are in a central location by the city end car park.”
Cllr McCarthy noted there has also been a “very fair and very valid” ask by parents and guardians using the Marina’s Holland Park playground for toilets there.
“Provision of toilets comes down to cost of construction, maintenance but also access to a water main. I’ll keep lobbying on my side though.” he added.
