Cork’s most fascinating astronomy and beer night returns to the Fran Well

Get it on the calendar.
Astronomy on Tap returns to The Fran Well on the North Mall on Tuesday, September 23rd with a brilliant evening planned for stargazers and the just-plain-curious, alongside pints and great pizza.
“We will have two Professors of Astrophysics from UCC give talks about their work: Prof. Paul Callanan and Prof Bertram Bitsch.” one of the organisers, UCC’s Dr. Michael Tremmel told Yay Cork.
“Prof. Callanan uses observations in a variety of wavelengths (optical, X-ray, Infrared) to study some of the most extreme objects in the Milky Way: neutron stars and black holes. Prof. Bitsch uses computer simulations to study how planets form around other stars in order to decipher where, when and how habitable worlds like our own Earth form and where we could find them.”

“They will each give a brief, public-friendly talk and there will, as always, be astro-themed trivia! We have some nice prizes to hand out as well.” he added.
