Cork Airport is installing a new mezzanine, upgraded body scanners and a bigger duty-free

They’re breaking ground for a new era.
Cork Airport has announced that work is about to start on a €200 million Capital Development Plan that will see a new mezzanine floor installed at the busy travel hub.
The contract for works has been awarded to Cork-based builders PJ Hegarty and the project will involve the construction of a new floor; the installation of new C3 security screening equipment, new body scanners, new anti-pass back doors, new auto-pass gates along with the reconfiguration of the airport arrivals area.
A new and larger duty-free shop will also be created, along with enhanced executive lounge facilities; new airbridges; a long-term car park extension; new boarding gates; new pier and aircraft parking stands; airside equipment enhancements (including green energy airside ground power units), a new staff and goods security screening area, new oversized baggage screening unit and a 1.7Mw solar farm over the existing Holiday Blue car park.

Further project phases will be announced over the next eight weeks as Cork Airport mobilises its capital programme following An Taoiseach Micheál Martin’s announcement of the plan in May.
“Today marks a major milestone as we start the first project of our €200 million Cork Airport Capital Development Programme.” said daa CEO, Kenny Jacobs.
“With PJ Hegarty on board, I’m confident we’ll deliver it on-time, on budget and to the highest standards.” Jacobs added.
