Balmy weekend weather for Cork as August temps soar and sunshine stays ’til next week

It’s not technically a heatwave.
But Cork will bask in gloriously balmy August weather for the next few days, with temperatures set to soar as high as 27C.
If you were up early today, you might have spotted a few misty patches clinging to the countryside. They’re already clearing away, and we’re in for a lovely warm Friday with plenty of sunshine and highs between 22C and 26C.
Tonight will stay dry with clear skies, though a little mist or fog might roll in overnight. Temperatures will dip to 10C–14C after dark.
Some patches of mist early this morning😶🌫️.
These will clear and today will be largely dry and warm with good spells of sunshine☀️.

Saturday – Sunshine & Sudden Showers
Saturday morning will start off bright and dry, ideal for a walk along the Marina or a quick dip in Myrtleville. But by the afternoon, some showers will bubble up from the south — and a few could be heavy or even thundery. It’ll still be very warm at 23C–27C.
Saturday night will be mild and humid with some showers early in the night but it will become mainly dry with temperatures no lower than 14 to 17 degrees.
Sunday – A Bit More Mixed
Sunday kicks off dry and sunny, but those scattered showers will drift in from the southwest around lunchtime, especially for Munster. A couple might be heavy or thundery, but in between there’ll still be warm, bright spells. Highs of 19C–25C, staying mild into the night.
“Monday will bring a mix of warm sunny spells and scattered showers.” said a forecaster.
“Again, showers will be mainly in Munster and Connacht, some heavy and possibly thundery. Highest temperatures of 19 to 25 degrees in light easterly or variable breezes. Tuesday will be similar with sunny spells and scattered showers, mainly in Munster and Connacht. Not quite as warm with highs of 18 to 23 degrees.”
If you’re not a fan of the heat, don’t worry; forecasters are predicting a clear trend for temperatures to drop back down next week.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will being a fair amount of dry weather with sunny spells and some showers. It will be slightly cooler with highs of 17 to 21 degrees.
