This lovely Friday Evening Market will have stalls and outdoor games for the kids

Head for Barrack Street to kick off the weekend.
This Friday, August 15th, Elizabeth Fort is being transformed into a hive of local goodness for an evening market running from 3pm until 8pm as part of the Cork on a Fork Festival.
The old fort will be filled with food and craft stalls, all thanks to the legends at GoldieFish Markets and sponsored by Cork’s Nighttime Economy.
And it’s not just for the foodies and shoppers. Let’s Play Cork will be there with outdoor games to keep everyone entertained, whether you’re bringing the kiddos or just the young at heart. Think giant Jenga and Connect Four, maybe even a bit of skittles. It’s guaranteed to be a laugh.

The best part? It’s free to attend and you don’t even have to book in advance. Just rock up to Elizabeth Fort on Barrack Street with your mates, your family, or even just yourself, and soak up the atmosphere.
Speaking at the launch of Cork on a Fork last night, the Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Fergal Dennehy congratulated all the businesses and staff across Cork who have pulled together this week to create a fantastic showcase for the city.
“Food is central to Cork’s identity and Cork on a Fork Fest celebrates our incredible food and the creativity, collaboration, and spirit of an industry that makes Cork really special.” he said.
“Food connects us all, and you’ll see the programme reflects that — with free events, opportunities for migrant communities to share exciting new influences, donations to the Food Bank, and partnerships with Down Syndrome Cork, to name just a few initiatives.
“This is an inclusive festival for an inclusive city. And it also has huge potential to attract visitors back to us time and again.”
