People are really loving the The Marina’s new kids’ playground and adult gym

You could spend a whole day down there.
The new Holland Park section of Marina Park is getting rave reviews from Cork families who are thrilled with the climbing frames, log and net trail, swings, swing basket, teepees, and tunnel.
While the lack of public toilets in the area continues to puzzle the public and frustrate visiting parents (there are plans to open more facilities before the end of the summer but for now you’ll find toilets in Blackrock Village, the Marina Market and Marina Park) it’s still very much worth a trip, provided you encourage everyone to use the loo beforehand.
A key feature of the playground is the inclusion of a wheelchair-accessible swing, ensuring that children with disabilities can also enjoy the play area.
With plenty of seating, new trees and almost 10,000 new plants all firmly in the ground, the park is the ideal spot for a day of free fun in the great outdoors as the weather heats up for August.

“The “snakes and ladders” slides on the greenway have also gotten a revamp, with new, softer surfacing, and facilities installed to make it a easier to clamber back up to the top and slide right down again.” said a City Council spokesperson.
“For the health-conscious grown-ups, there’s also new multi-use gym equipment right alongside the playground and new seating, picnic benches and sun loungers have been installed in the area so you can have a rest after making use of all these new facilities!”

Work is continuing on the completion of the Atlantic Pond upgrade, including the installation of benches, lighting, and the construction of a timber deck bridge on the southern side (from Pairc Uí Chaoimh).
Works to Barrington’s Folly and the Folly woodland paths are also nearing completion and the Sunken Garden area is also complete, with a new picnic bench installed and 8,000 new plants.
