Coffee for Palestine team praise ‘powerful’ support as 270 cafés row in to help

‘You shared much more than a drink.”
That’s the message from the organisers of a unique Gaza fundraiser that was started in Cork and received support in every part of the country last week.
The second Coffee for Palestine campaign, organised by Eman Alkarajeh from Café Izz, Deirdre Breen from Studio Boon, and Clare Condon from Good Day Deli, saw 270 restaurants and cafés sign up to pledge the price of ten coffees to the cause.
The first initiative in 2024 raised more than €50,000 to help three important charities working to help children in Palestine.
This year, the funds raised will go to Gaza Go Bragh, a grassroots Irish initiative fundraising directly for emergency aid in Gaza. UNICEF’s Gaza Crisis Response, Palestine Red Crescent Society, emergency medical responders operating in unimaginable conditions, providing ambulances, trauma care, and humanitarian relief under fire, Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and Communities on the Ground.
“Our Coffee for Palestine initiative is in its final stages for this year, and Alhamdulillah, it’s been a beautiful journey full of love, generosity, and solidarity.” said Eman.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who shared a cup of coffee with us, you shared much more than a drink; you shared hope.
“A very special thank you to my dear friends Deirdre from Studio Boon and Clare from Good Day Deli, who stood beside me with their warm hearts and strong voices. This campaign would not have been the same without you. You made it feel like I wasn’t alone, you made it feel like Palestine was right here with us.
“And to our talented friend who designed and printed our beautiful logo, thank you for giving our message a face. Your work brought light, even when the skies over Gaza were dark.
“From Gaza from under the rubble, from Cork with all our love, thank you. We will never stop talking about Palestine.”
Deirdre added: “From what we witness on our screens, the strength and steadfastness of the Palestinian people, their courage, their love for their land, and their commitment to one another, is extraordinary.
“Here at home, this moment feels like a spark of collective hope, a shared expression of the wish that the Palestinian people may one day live in freedom, dignity, and peace, as they so very much deserve.”
