Sad news as unique Cork sculpture garden to close after 32 years

This summer is your last chance to visit.
High up on the Beara mountains, The Ewe Experience, an interactive and interpretative garden in a lush oasis dotted with fish sculptures, cascading waterfalls and views of a hilltop reservoir, will close at the end of the summer after 32 years.
Owners Kurt Lyndorff and Sheena Wood are saying goodbye to their loyal return visitors, having enjoyed three decades of welcoming adventurers to their gardens.
Happily, four charities will benefit from the last season in West Cork with a huge gallery sale running until August 31st.

The charities benefitting will be UNICEF, Cork Cancer Research, The Alzheimer Society and Bantry Hospice,
Lots of items will be sold for charity as well as the proceeds from two wishing wells in the garden and all donations will be matched by The Ewe Experience.
There will be up to 40% reductions on the art works by artist Sheena in the gallery and all sculptures in the garden will also be for sale.
‘A new chapter’
“The time is right is close this chapter of our lives and start a new, although it is sad to finish such a successful venture,” says co-owner Kurt Lyndorff.

“We have had so many sad, but also very kind comments about us closing. Several people have suggested a public group should take over our educational work, promoting art and protecting the environment.
“We will stay in Glengarriff but have lots of ideas to try, offering our services as environmental design consultants, and art and design.” says Sheena.
The couple ran the art tourist business for ten years on the Mizen peninsula and a further 22 years in Glengarriff and have had three generations of visitors.
Head West for a chance to say farewell before they close the gate for the last time. Entry is €10 for adults and €6.50 for kids (if walking), with family tickets available at €30. The Ewe Experience is open daily 10am to 6pm.
