Brews with Views: Blacks Brewing and Distilling is *the* spot to visit in Kinsale

By Yay Cork June 17, 2025June 16, 2025

Brought to you by Blacks Brewing and Distilling.

Forget everything you thought you knew about Irish spirits and brews.

Nestled on the breathtaking Wild Atlantic Way, in the charming coastal town of Kinsale, lies a liquid paradise you absolutely need to experience: Blacks Brewing and Distilling.

We’re not just talking about another run-of-the-mill brewery here. Blacks is the real deal, a true pioneer in the Irish craft scene. Why? Because it’s Ireland’s first co-located brewery and distillery, meaning they’re crafting everything from unique beers to potent spirits, all under one roof.

Husband and wife duo Sam and Maudeline Black are flavour mavericks. And they’ve been doing it with family passion since 2013, recently moving to a stunning new waterside vista in 2023 and finally opening their doors for tours in summer 2024.

The Tours: Your Boozy Choose-Your-Own-Adventure

This is where Blacks truly shines. Tours run from Thursday to Sunday and forget being pigeonholed into just one type. Ideal for group outings, corporate get-togethers and office parties, at Blacks Brewing and Distilling, you get to pick your poison (in the best possible way):

  • Gin Tour: Dive deep into the botanical brilliance of their award-winning gins: €30 including gin sampling
  • Rum Tour: Discover the surprising world of Irish-made rum – trust us, it’s a game-changer. €30 including tasting
  • Whiskey Tour: Explore the rich heritage and future of their exceptional Irish whiskey. From €30 to €75 for The Connoisseur’s Whiskey Tasting and Tour
  • Beer Tour: For the hopheads among us, get the inside scoop on their fantastic range of craft beers. €25 including beer flight

The full list of fascinating tours is available to book here.

The Location

Let’s talk about the setting. You know that postcard-perfect image of the Cork coast you have in your head? Well, Kinsale delivers, and then some. Blacks Brewing and Distilling is situated right on the water, offering a jaw-dropping panorama that might just be the most beautiful location for a brewery and distillery ever.

Come for the drinks, stay for the Instagram-breaking views.

Stick Around

After you’ve had your mind blown by the tour, you can make a proper day (or night) of it. Their on-site bars, The Lagoon Bar and The Glass Box, are open to the public and are the perfect spots to unwind with a fresh pint or a perfectly crafted cocktail.

And keep an eye on their Instagram and Facebook because throughout the summer, they’re throwing some epic events. Think live music, food trucks, and good times – all with that incredible Kinsale waterside backdrop.

This week they’re hosting a Mexican-inspired pop-up with well-known West Cork-based chef Caitlin Ruth, who is setting up down there until June 28th, serving a ‘four courses and more’ feast from a menu that will change weekly.

Much of the 12-night run is already fully booked but there are still some spots left if you get your act together ASAP.

Every Saturday in June they’re welcoming Christian and Liz from Toto Pizza too.

So, what are you waiting for? Round up the gang or plan a date and head to Kinsale. Blacks Brewing and Distilling (P17 AY10) is ready to blow your mind with incredible drinks, stunning views, and a genuinely unforgettable experience. Visit blacksbrewery.com for booking and further information or call (021) 245 9090/email info@blacksbrewery.com to find out about corporate bookings.
