If you speak a cúpla focal in your shop, pub or café, your business could win a prize

It’s amazing how fast it comes back to you.
And if you’ve been making an effort to use and promote the Irish language in your business and speak a cúpla focal every day, now’s the time to be recognised for your contribution.
Whether it’s casual phrases slipping into everyday conversation or the growing number of young people embracing it in creative ways, Irish is now a symbol of pride, identity, and, most importantly, a whole lot of fun.
Gael-Taca, in partnership with Cork City Council, has announced the relaunch of the prestigious Gradam Uí Chuanacháin awards for 2025. Named in honour of the late Pádraig Ó Cuanacháin, a dedicated advocate for bilingualism in Cork, these awards celebrate businesses that proudly promote the Irish language through signage, events, media, communications, and overall awareness.
This is your chance to showcase how your business is helping to make Irish a visible and vibrant part of Cork’s identity. Whether it’s bilingual signage, Irish-speaking staff, or creative use of the language.
How do we enter?
The awards will be launched by Lord Mayor Cllr Dan Boyle at 7pm on Tuesday, March 11th in the Council Chamber. Applications are now open, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to get involved.

Éasca péasca.
