Status Yellow alerts in place for Cork with high winds and heavy downpours forecast

It’s blustery out there.
With a Status Yellow – Rain warning in place for Munster until 5pm this evening, Met Éireann has also advised that strong and gusty winds could cause further damage to already weakened structures and trees, making for dangerous travelling conditions.
A Status Yellow – Wind warning is also in place for Munster until noon today, Sunday as Storm Herminia brings gusts of up to 100kmh along the south and east coastlines.
There are reports of a tree down on the R600 near the Bridge in Kinsale, on the Kinsale side and another causing issues at Bridestown, Kildinan towards Glanville.

“Tonight, scattered heavy showers merging to longer spells of rain at times, will continue to push in from the southwest, heaviest.” said a forecaster.
“Lowest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees with mostly moderate to fresh southerly winds, but strong to gale force in the south and southwest, especially near coasts.”
Tomorrow, Monday will be a another blustery day with further spells of rain or showers in most areas but there will be a few bright intervals too.
“Fresh and gusty southerly winds will ease and become variable for a time and will then become fresh northwesterly during the evening. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees.” added the forecasters.
It’s looking like much of the same for the rest of the week, right up until Thursday when a few more dry periods are expected.
The good news is that there’s a good chance of dome dry, milder weather from Friday on.
