This is the Cork wedding florist to pick if you prefer old-school romance over trends

Brought to you by Howe Hill Flowers.
No wedding is complete without a floral flourish.
But if you find yourself yearning for something timeless, rather than the latest fleeting trends, and you’d rather lean into a bouquet that feels like it could have come straight from the pages of an old romance novel, then allow us to introduce you to the florist of your dreams.
In a world where Pinterest-worthy arrangements often feel a little too “of the moment,” Cork florist Flicky Howe of Howe Hill Flowers is a breath of fresh, fragrant air.
In fact, she is fully booked through May, June, July and August 2025, so if you’ve just started wedding planning, now is the time to get your appointment locked down.

Think soft, romantic blooms, delicate petals that speak of love and history, and an effortless elegance that transports you to another time. If you’re the type of person who believes in true love (and the kind of floral arrangements that tell that story), this is the place.
Based in Kilbrittain, Howe Hill’s lush gardens are ideally located to cater to weddings and events throughout West Cork and Cork city, but the team often travel to East Cork, Kerry, Waterford and Tipperary too.

“We are a studio florist with a passion for sustainability, growing our own flowers on approximately an acre of cutting gardens during the Irish flower season, which runs from March to September.” Flicky told Yay Cork.
“Outside of that, we carefully source blooms from the Dutch flower market, but only the best—Fairtrade-certified, top-quality flowers from countries we trust (we are strict followers of the BDS movement).”
As an eco-conscious florist, they steer clear of “green” foam (the traditional oasis type) and embrace sustainable floristry practices. In the studio, you’ll find an abundance of reusable vases and vessels, chicken wire, and eco-friendly paper packaging.
What’s new for 2025/2026 weddings?
Flowers often carry deep meanings, adding a layer of emotion and personal touch to the ceremony. From roses, which symbolise love and passion, to lilies, which represent purity and commitment.

“We are known for our beautiful, and unusual flowers which are filled with nostalgia for many people (think roses, dahlias and sweet peas like your granny used to grow, or tulips that look like they came from the storybook Thumbelina).” adds Flicky.
“We pick romance over trends – romance never gets old! Having said that, we love Pantone’s 2025 colour of the year Mocha Mousse and you can see the colour incorporated beautifully in this wedding bouquet we made last summer:

“We are also looking forward to adding heaps of fruit and veggies into our designs this coming year (that’s another trend alert!) but we’ve been sneaking that in already the past couple of seasons.”
