A new Italian restaurant brings fresh pasta to Washington Street

Head for Washington Street, carb lovers.
A new Italian restaurant opens in Cork City this month, promising fresh, authentic homemade pasta and luscious Italian desserts to kick off the New Year.
Don Gregorio’s will open in the spot formerly occupied by Amigo’s at No. 7 Washington Street on January 18th. The restaurant has had a makeover with a whole new look and the new menu is almost ready to go.
“The idea came about from a desire to deliver something special to the foodies of Cork, with the ethos being fresh , homemade and tasty.” they told us.
“Our primary speciality is fresh pasta with locally sourced ingredients.”

The menu features an all-important carbonara, a Roman classic made with eggs, Pecorino Romano cheese, black pepper, and guanciale.
Then there’s the Amatriciana, a tomato-based sauce with chili for a little heat (delicious with fresh bucatini) and the Aglio e Olio, a simple and satisfying classic with garlic, olive oil, red pepper.
“It features thinly sliced zucchini that’s lightly fried until golden, then tossed with fresh pasta, a touch of garlic, basil, and grated cheese like Parmesan or Provolone del Monaco for a creamy, flavourful sauce. This dish is perfect with fresh spaghetti or linguine.” they added.
Desserts include tiramisu served in a glass, cannoli and crostata with jam.
After the launch on January 18th, Don Gregorio’s will open from Monday to Friday from 12pm until 8pm, on Saturdays from 8am to 10pm and on Sundays from 9am to 8pm.
