FYI, black ice and snow are making travel treacherous across Cork this morning

Be careful out there.
Cork commuters will be hit with a variety of challenges this morning as snow and ice continues to wreak havoc on the roads.
A Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice warning for the entire country is in place, extending all the way through the coming week until midday on Thursday, January 9th.
Locals report almost 14 inches of snow fell in parts of North West Cork last night, making many roads impassable. Road conditions are treacherous and Council crews are continuing to treat priority routes where it is safe to do so.
There are reports of an overturned vehicle on the R600 between Ballinspittle and Kinsale, near Barrels Crossroads so take extra care on approach if that’s your route this morning.

At Cork Airport, the snow and ice team has completed the clearance of snow from the main runway, and it is now operational. Iarnród Éireann cancelled two train services from Cork to Midleton this morning due to poor weather conditions so check the website for updates before you head for the train station.
Expect icy conditions on the N28 at Carr’s Hill, with black ice reported in parts on the N71 between Cork and Innishannon and between Bandon and Timoleague.
Meanwhile, Midleton folk will have icy conditions to deal with as well this morning, particularly around Townparks and the roundabout near SuperValu.
