Cork’s Christmas Eve forecast is here with ‘very favourable’ conditions for Santa’s visit

By Yay Cork December 23, 2024December 23, 2024

Just two more sleeps to go.

The countdown to Christmas is on, and Met Éireann has some great news for all the little ones eagerly awaiting Santa’s arrival. According to the latest forecast, Christmas Eve will see very favourable weather conditions for Santa’s journey across Cork and beyond. With clear skies and calm winds, it looks like the big man in red will have no trouble making his rounds this year.

“Tuesday night, Christmas Eve, will bring very favourable conditions for Santa’s visit around Ireland. It’ll be mainly dry with variable cloud amounts and a few clear spells, with just a few patches of drizzle and mist.” said a forecaster.

“Temperatures will be no lower than 8 to 11 degrees in mostly moderate south to southwest winds, fresh to strong in some coastal parts of the west and northwest.”

Wednesday, Christmas Day, will be largely dry and mild with a good deal of cloud overall but some bright or sunny spells too – ideal for taking those new bikes and scooters for spin before dinner.

“There will be a few patches of light rain and drizzle for some. Another unseasonably mild day, with highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in mostly moderate south to southwest winds, fresher for a time in coastal parts of the west and northwest.” the forecasters added.

“Christmas night will continue largely dry, and often cloudy for many, with just a few spots of light rain and drizzle.”

Rain on St. Stephen’s Day

Thursday, St. Stephens Day, is likely to be mostly cloudy with patchy rain, drizzle and mist. Expect highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in light to moderate south to southwest winds.

Thursday night, St Stephen’s night, will continue mostly cloudy with a few spots of light rain and drizzle.
