Cork Zine Fest is back with panel chats, workshops and a makers market

There’s a zine out there for all interests.
But if you’re new to the world of zines (self-published magazines focused on niche topics) an upcoming city event is a good place to start.
The Cork Zine Fest is returning this month with a packed programme of events, including engaging panel discussions, informative workshops, and a vibrant makers market across the weekend of October 19th and 20th, 2024.

This year’s festival offers a unique opportunity to connect with other zine makers, learn new skills, and discover exciting new publications.
“Find us from 11am – 5pm each day at the South Parish Community Centre, Cork City for our Zine Market, where artists from around Ireland will showcase their zines and paper-based art.” the organisers told us.
“The venue is just off South Terrace on Sawmill Street so it’s easily accessible from the Cork City centre. The event is free with no pre-booking required.”
What’s happening?
During the market there will be a €10 ticketed zine-making workshop from 12pm -1pm and 3:30om – 4:30pm (booking required) where participants can learn how to make their own zines.
A panel talk will take place from 2pm – 3pm where CZF organisers and fellow zine makers will be speaking about all things zines and how they are a powerful tool for community building.
“Leading up to Cork Zine Fest, we will be hosting a special spooky Samhain Zine Club in the Triskel residency space on October 10th,” they added.
“Whether new to zines or a zine connoisseur, you will have time to explore and play with the form during this two-hour workshop. We will look at a feast of ghoulish zines from the zine library and learn a new folding technique to make your own creepy creation. Contact corkzinefest@gmail.com to secure your place for the Zine Club.”
