All these spooky movies will be screened in a super haunted Cork spot this Halloween

By Yay Cork October 2, 2024September 30, 2024

Scaredy cats might want to avoid this one.

One of the spookiest locations in Cork is creaking open its gates this Halloween to screen a selection of scary movies for all ages.

Cork City Gaol, one of Ireland’s most atmospheric and historic sites, will transform into the ultimate spooky movie destination, showing four spine-tingling films within the eerie confines of this former prison.

This year’s indoor screenings are set to take place on Wednesday, October 30th and Friday, November 1st, with a thrilling mix of family-friendly frights and classic horror that will make your blood run cold.

Here’s the line-up:

  • Hocus Pocus – Wednesday, October 30th at 7pm
A beloved family favourite, join the Sanderson sisters for a magical evening that will enchant audiences of all ages!
  • The Conjuring (18+) – Wednesday, October 30th at 9:30pm
Prepare to be terrified as the story of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren comes to life in one of the most chilling horror films of the last decade.
  • Hocus Pocus – Friday, November 1st at 7pm
Back by popular demand! Another chance to enjoy this Halloween staple with your family in the spooky setting of Cork City Gaol.
  • Halloween (1978) 18+ – Friday, November 1st at 9:30pm
Finish your spooky season with the film that started it all. John Carpenter’s iconic slasher film will have you gripping your seat as the haunting score echoes through the stone walls of the Gaol.

“This Halloween Movie Series is not just about great films—it’s about immersing yourself in the chilling atmosphere of one of Cork’s most legendary landmarks.” Scenic Cinema’s Simon Murdoch told Yay Cork.

“The Cork City Gaol, with its towering stone walls, labyrinthine corridors, and history steeped in mystery, promises to add an extra layer of fear and excitement to your cinema experience.”

This you’re brave enough? Tickets are on sale now from €14.50 over here.
