You can literally go dancing at the crossroads on Bere Island this month

This sounds delightful.
A group of West Cork musicians are reviving the old tradition of dancing at the crossroads this month as part of the Bere Island Arts Festival.
On Sunday, September 22nd at noon, Trad musicians Lorg will be setting up with John Coakley on the button accordion, Tina Mc Loughlan on whistles, and Kate Lyons on fiddle, bódhran and vocals.
It’s a free event (no booking required) so all you need to do to take part is show up in Rerrin, the main village on Bere Island, and join in.
The island community will welcome people to its shores from September 19th to 22nd, 2024… and the moment they step on board the ferry, audiences will become part of something special.

A festival like no other, the island becomes the setting for music, song, visual, performing and spoken art, inspired and adapted for this one-of-a-kind setting.
Bere Island Arts Festival has curated a collection of performances, experiences, reading, theatre, screenings, concerts and exhibitions appearing across the island.
Events will take place in locations that will allow audiences to explore the area as performances and exhibitions turn regular spaces into artistic and performance venues, including the Heritage Centre, Wild Atlantic Glamping and former military buildings such as The Drill Hall and The Lecture Theatre (old Camp Church).
