A Cork Hairdressing School for Teenagers is running a course for aspiring stylists

Choosing a career path can be a tricky journey.
Now Cork teenagers who are curious about pursuing hairdressing after they finish secondary school can get a true taste of what it’s like, thanks to a clever new tailored course.
Vibe and Vision Teen Hairdressing School is now enrolling for an after-school programme in two locations, Ballincollig and Glanmire.
The brainchild of local hairstylist Victoria McCullagh who saw a need for some teen-focused enrichment, the camp has blossomed from a simple idea into a full-fledged program. Now, teens can choose between a fun-filled three-day summer camp or a more in-depth 10-week running course starting in September.

But this isn’t just about hairstyling. The founder, who conquered her own braiding woes during the pandemic, sees the camp as a space for empowerment. “The teenage years are a critical time,” she explains. “They’re under a lot of pressure, and I wanted to create a positive learning environment, free from judgment.
“Learning to do their own hair, or their friends’, is a valuable skill that boosts confidence.”
This is just the beginning, though. The founder envisions expanding the program to offer even more mentoring opportunities. “Teens need role models and guidance,” she says, “and these can come through fun activities like learning a new skill.”
Know a teen who is eager to ditch the screen time and unlock their inner hairstylist? This camp promises not just braids and buns, but a confidence boost with a sprinkle of empowerment on top.
