Master percussionist and ‘musical visionary’ Marilyn Mazur plays Cork this autumn

She’s worked with some proper musical icons.
Now master percussionist and musical visionary Marilyn Mazur is coming to Cork this October in a must-see event for jazz enthusiasts and anyone seeking a truly unique musical experience.
Mazur will be bringing her electrifying group, the Marilyn Mazur Special 4, to the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival on Saturday, October 26th, 2024 for a 2.30pm show at the Triskel.

A true innovator in the world of jazz, Mazur is renowned for her work with icons like Miles Davis and Jan Garbarek.
“Marilyn has shared the stage with some of the most important figures in the history of jazz, having led many cutting-edge ensembles throughout her career and we look forward to bringing her and her Special 4 to Cork,” said Tony Sheehan, Artistic Director at Triskel.
“With Mazur performing on a mesmerising array of gongs, bells and all things percussion, the Special 4 lineup is completed by Jakob Buchanan on flugelhorn, pianist Makiko Hirabayashi and Klavs Hovman on double bass. Together they will guide audiences into an adventurous world of multi-coloured moods, lively energies, dreamy soundscapes, strong melodies and lots of rhythm.”
Anything else planned?
Other acts appearing at Triskel for the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival include Japanese trumpeter Takuya Kuroda, singer Stella Bass, and a concert featuring harpist Alina Bzhezhinska, composer and musician Brian Jackson and saxophonist Tony Kofi that celebrates the legacy of Alice Coltrane.
The venue’s ongoing partnership with renowned jazz label ECM will also feature during the weekend and details of those concerts will be announced shortly.
Tickets for Marilyn Mazur at the Triskel are €35 now here.
