UCC is screening a powerful new documentary on the ongoing Palestinian struggle

What makes the oppressor so blind to its own cruelty?
That’s the question asked by the directors of a powerful new documentary offering a firsthand look at the ongoing Palestinian struggle under Israeli occupation.
Where Olive Trees Weep (2024) will be screened for free at UCC, hosted by the Cork Palestine Solidarity Campaign (CPSC). You can head along on Wednesday, June 26th to catch the film at 6:30pm in Room G30, Aras na Laoi (free parking available).
Directed by Maurizio Benazzo and Zaya Benazzo, the film follows Palestinian journalist Ashira Darwish, grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi, and Israeli journalist Amira Hass as they navigate a complex web of loss, trauma, and the constant fight for justice.
Dr. Gabor Maté also joins the narrative, offering insights into the intergenerational impact of conflict.

Where Olive Trees Weep doesn’t shy away from the harsh realities of land confiscation, expulsions, and the denial of basic human rights, but within this struggle, the film also celebrates the resilience of the Palestinian people.
This free screening at UCC offers a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the ongoing conflict and the human cost on both sides.
