Met Éireann: Thundery and wet weekend for Cork ‘with low pressure dominating’

Dig out your summeriest raincoat.
The Father’s Day weekend forecast is here and TBH, it’s not great.
According to Met Éireann, it’ll be sunny spells and scattered showers today, Friday. Some of the showers will be heavy with isolated thunderstorms and a chance of hail.
“Clouding over from the west later, with more persistent rain moving in from the Atlantic this evening, accompanied by blustery westerly winds. Highs of 13 to 16 degrees in mostly light to moderate west to southwest or variable winds, but with winds increasing fresh to strong and occasionally gusty later near the west coast.” said a forecaster.
Longer spells of rain are expected tonight, with some heavy falls in parts, with lowest temperatures 6 to 9 degrees.

How’s the rest of the weekend looking?
Saturday will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain at first giving way to a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers during the afternoon, with some heavy and possibly thundery downpours.
Highest temperatures will range between 14 and 17 degrees.
Rounding out a changeable weekend, Sunday will bring a mix of weather across the country but it will be brighter further south with sunny spells, but scattered showers too, some heavy with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. With highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees, it will be mostly dry on Sunday night with clear spells.
Monday and Tuesday are looking better, with a high of 19C and longer dry and sunny intervals, but there’s not much heatwave potential next week either:
“Potentially largely dry with some sunshine on Wednesday with daytime highs in the mid-teens generally, but continuing rather changeable and mixed thereafter, with wet and breezy conditions at times.” they added.
