With fresh puccia and Napoli salami, this Italian food truck in East Cork is the real deal

Yearning for a sneaky Italian getaway?
Your annual escape might be a bit away yet, but in the meantime you can satisfy your Italian food cravings at a brand new food truck in East Cork.
A new venture by Midleton pizza chef Giovanni Iemma, Doughlicious has fans of authentic Italian food queuing for freshly toasted, piping hot focaccia, folded flatbreads, and puccia (Puglian pitta bread) sandwiches, all handmade and baked in a wood-burning oven.

Now open in the Fair Green in Midleton (where the Farmers Market is on a Saturday), the truck’s sambos include delicious meat options including prosciutto, Napoli salami, mortadella, and chicken as well as a mouthwatering selection of cheeses; mozzarella, smoked scamorza, fontina, and cheddar.
Veggies are well catered for too with fillings such as grilled aubergines, courgettes, mushrooms, and rocket leaves. There’s even a choice of pestos; basil, nduja or mushroom.

Gianni hails from the South of Italy and opened Doughlicious to bring the tastes of Italy to Midleton through pastries, sandwiches, coffee (Lavazza), and lemonades (San Pellegrino, natch).
They’ll be adding fresh ice cold lemonades to the menu this weekend alongside cornetto (Italian croissants) filled with pistachio cream or Nutella.
Upcoming specials include Puccia meatball parmigiana and stracciatella so check the Doughlicious Instagram feed for updates.
