A HUGE blue travelling rope will be winding its way through Cork city this summer

You won’t miss it, that’s for sure.
A giant, oversized rope will be winding its way through the streets and parks of Cork this summer as part of a unique project designed to spark the imaginations of passers-by and bring people together.
Visiting Cork as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival from June 20th to 23rd, ROPE, created by visual artist Ief Spincemaille, is inviting us all to reimagine the city by moving, holding, or just visiting it on its adventures and explorations as it pops up in surprise locations.

“The 60m travelling rope (which weighs 196kg and takes eleven people to carry) needs your help to explore the city and meet interesting Corkonians – young and old, residents and visitors, come say hello.” say the folks behind the spectacle.
“Ahead of its arrival in Cork, ROPE has toured across Europe, China, South America, and South Africa. Based in Belgium, artist Ief Spincemaille develops in-situ projects and social sculptures in non-artistic spaces.”

The exact locations will be announced online and on social media closer to the dates but you’ll be able to interact with ROPE from 11am to 4pm on the scheduled days, guaranteeing some quirky (and free!) fun.
