To Barrack Street, for an evening of spoken word in a cosy coffee shop

Everyone’s got a story to tell.
Now you can share yours in a supportive space at an upcoming evening of Spoken Word at Alchemy Coffee and Books on Barrack Street.
Named after an old Irish word meaning ‘great knowledge’, IMBAS is a monthly evening event where everyone is invited to “come and release your inner poet, storyteller, singer”, with one coming up this Friday.
“The evening starts with the opening of IMBAS, a healing poem from the land followed by a spotlight space for artists (including those who haven’t shared their words yet). Then the second half is an open mic for all.” the organisers told us.

Richard Pierce will be this month’s spotlighted speaker. Pierce, a storyteller who enjoys folktales from Ireland and further afield, is the host of the spoken word night Sling Slang.
“Message us on 087 7453925 if you’re interested in our spotlight on your work spot or just show up on the night for our open night.” the organisers added.
IMBAS takes place on the third Friday of every month from 7pm to 9pm and the next one is this Friday, April 19th.
