Met Éireann says temperatures are about to drop for a ‘chilly’ weekend in Cork

Will it ever be shorts weather?
Met Éireann is forecasting another dip in temperatures for Cork this weekend, with breezy conditions and chilly weather on Saturday night, Sunday and Monday.
While Friday will be mostly cloudy and misty with patchy rain and drizzle too, highest temperatures will remain between 12 to 15 degrees.
Tomorrow, Saturday, will be a bright and breezy day overall with a mix of sunshine and a few blustery showers, after a mostly cloudy start. Afternoon highs will stay in and around 11 to 15 degrees.
Saturday night will be “chillier than of late with lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees in mostly light to moderate southwest breezes, the winds freshening a little along the west coast by dawn.”
By Sunday however, you’ll be needing that cosy cardigan again as the weather turns cooler with sunshine and showers and a brisk breeze.
‘Showers will be heavy with a chance of hail and thunder’
“After a mostly dry and bright start for many on Sunday, cloud and outbreaks of rain will sweep eastwards over the country, followed by widespread blustery showers.” said a forecaster.
“Some of the showers will be heavy with a chance of hail and thunder, especially in the west and north. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds, strong along Atlantic coasts.”
Showers will continue through Sunday night, merging to longer spells of rain at times with some heavy falls expected with hail and thunder possible and lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees.
The beginning of the week will bring more sunshine and showers, but there is a little snippet of good news in the current forecast: “Showers will likely become increasingly isolated towards the end of the week as high pressure looks set to build from the Atlantic.”
We’ll believe it when we see it.
