A new country café opens this weekend in the lounge of a 200-year-old bar

The pub has been a fixture for almost two centuries.
But times are changing just south of the city, and now Barrett’s Bar in Killeady, Ballinhassig, is ready to launch a new addition to appease the coffee-loving locals living nearby.
The pub’s new country café opens this Saturday, serving an all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner, SOMA Coffee, and sweet treats.
Tea Twelve is a new venture by experienced chef Lisa Jordan and her wife Shaunna Jordan in partnership with Davie and Caitríona Barrett of Barrett’s Bar, who have turned their pub lounge into a cute eaterie.

“We will be open Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am- 5.30pm, Saturdays 9 am-6pm, and 10am – 6pm on Sundays,” they told us.
“We are soft-launching this Saturday and we are really excited to have people pop in and try our amazing new menu which will be an all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner catering for all, but particularly a large gluten-free menu.”

Lisa and Shaunna have worked in the food industry for many years, developing a wide range of food business experiences. The four friends came together to form a new and much-needed meeting point to enjoy delicious food, to catch up with friends over a coffee, or to grab a takeaway in the Killeady area.
“Our name and logo, read anticlockwise, incorporates our Eircode while also representing Barrett’s Bar’s timely presence in the industry; T12NH63.

“We’ve all put in a lot of work to finally make our new venture happen and we hope people will come to support us with the possibility of meeting Barrett’s Bar long-running family business and passing on our knowledge to our own children.
“And remember, if life gives you lemons, sip a coffee.. or even better a SOMA coffee!”
