Bird whisperer Seán Ronayne will be giving a free talk in Cobh

Everyone was in a twitter for this man
Following his appearance on RTÉ’s The Tommy Tiernan Show, Cork’s very own bird whisperer Seán Ronayne will speak in Cobh in February.
The ornithologist and creator of Irish Wildlife Sounds will be at the Sirius Arts Centre on February 10th, sharing his story and his unique, and often surprising, recordings of mimicry, distinct dialects, and birds never recorded in Ireland before. The event will be free of charge but you must register for a spot here to go along.
It has also just been announced that Seán’s documentary, Birdsong, chronicling his quest to record the symphony of Ireland’s birds, will premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival on February 29th. As expected, tickets are as elusive as some of his birds, and the screening is already sold out.
During his RTÉ interview, Seán shared with Tommy that he has almost 10,000 recordings amassed in the last three years, with almost every species in Ireland recorded now, bar three. You can read more about the interview here.
For three years, Seán has donned his bird-watching cape, traversing bogs, scaling mountains, hopping across remote islands, and strolling through native woodlands to document nearly 200 birds, some on the cusp of extinction.
The announcement of my presentation at Sirius Arts Centre has been so well received that it’s now going to have to be a free ticketed event.
