Love animals? Fota Wildlife Park is hiring, with two ranger positions available

What a place to call the office.
Just 23 minutes outside Cork City Centre, Fota Wildlife Park is seeking two new rangers to join their team in 2024.
If spending your days surrounded by cheeky lemurs, majestic giraffes, and mischievous meerkats sounds like a dream role and you’ve got the hefty set of qualifications they require, the park is recruiting for a Senior Ranger and a Ranger.
“An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Ranger within the Hoofstock Section at Fota Wildlife Park. This position will work with the Lead Rangers, Rangers, and Trainee Rangers and reports to the Lead Ranger.” the job advertisement explains.
“The Senior Ranger assists the Lead Ranger with the leadership of the animal care staff and others in the assigned areas on a daily basis to maximise safety, improve animal welfare, and promote a positive work environment.

“The Senior Ranger will assist the Lead Ranger with the development, implementation, and evaluation of husbandry standards, enrichment, training, and health care for animals in assigned areas.”
Duties will include the care and feeding of exotic and domestic animals; the cleaning and maintenance of buildings, exhibits, and other animal enclosures; observation and reporting of the physical and behavioural condition of the animals; animal training; and participation in Fota Wildlife Park’s conservation and education programs.
The second Ranger will also work on the Hoofstock Section, assisting the Lead Ranger and Senior Ranger.
Both the roles available require substantial experience in zoological animal management, with at least seven years of relevant experience in a BIAZA/EAZA accredited or equivalent facility.
If that sounds like you, you can apply here before January 26th.
