Trying out the new bikes and scooters will have to wait.
A Status Orange – Rainfall warning is in place for West Cork and Kerry, with Met Éireann warning that conditions will be dodgy until Friday.
The national forecaster said that very heavy rain overnight will be followed by intense heavy showers today, Wednesday, and localised flooding is possible.
The weather alert will remain in place until midnight on Thursday.
“The last of any lingering heavy overnight rain and high winds will move eastward early Wednesday morning.” said a forecaster.

“While some sunny spells will develop, some intense squally showers, with hail, will move in across the country on a brisk southwest flow. Highest afternoon temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.”
It will become increasingly windy on Wednesday evening and into Wednesday night as a swathe of strong to gale-force westerly winds, associated with Storm Gerrit, moves in across the country.
“Some coastal flooding is possible, due to a combination of spring and high tides. While the peak winds will occur early on, it will remain windy throughout with further scattered blustery wintry showers along with possible embedded thunderstorms.”
Lowest temperatures will range from 3 to 6 degrees.
