Celebrate Solstice at Test Site with a song exchange under the wishing tree

It’s a lovely way to mark the season.
Solstice is that time of the year when nature lets us know that another year has passed again and we are halfway through winter.
It is also that time when we connect to something older than even Christmas itself, to an ancient culture that once celebrated these events because of their connection to the rhythm of the universe.
This Solstice, Thursday, December 21st, the fabulous voices at the Song Exchange are teaming up with the folks at Test Site on Kyrl’s Quay to host a special edition of The Song Exchange with Molly Garvey.
“Sharing will happen in advance, there will be one song we learn together, and then a host of seasonal songs all sung together,” said the group organisers on Instagram. The event is a regular fixture at Maureen’s pub on John Redmond’s Street.
“The Song Exchange is part of a wider Winter Solstice celebration starting at 5.30pm: set an intention on the TEST SITE wishing tree, get crafty making native leaf prints and greeting cards, and warm the hands with some mulled punch,” they added.

If you are looking to partake, the exchange will take place from 6.30pm-7.30pm. Doors open at 5.30pm.
For the card making, materials and inspiration will be available on the day. You are also welcome to bring your own recycled materials to include in the greeting cards.
This is an outdoor event, open to all ages with adult supervision, and is alcohol-free. Tickets are available on Eventbrite here.
