A much-loved Ballincollig café is changing hands – but it’s good news for fans and staff

It’s a hidden gem in Ballincollig.
And fans of the Good for the Soul café and restaurant will be happy to know their favourite eatery is in good hands when the founders leave the helm next week.
The popular brunch spot, opened in 2018 by Sarah and Eoin Cotter, is now part of The Bookshelf restaurant group, owned by Paul O’Carroll.
Announcing the news on Instagram, Sarah said she’ll be handing over the reins on December 9th.
“It’s with very mixed emotions that I write this post but after five years and nine months (plus a few years of researching and planning on top of that!) I am handing over the ownership of Good for the Soul to Paul from The Bookshelf Cork, my last day at the cafe will be Saturday the 9th.
“It has been such a privilege to build this business and see this little corner of Ballincollig become home to such a vibey, warm, and steadfast community!

“I have loved all the friends I have made over the years between customers and staff, it really has been like an extension of my family and I will miss being a part of the people’s daily and weekly coffee routine!”
Sarah explained that the decision was made with a view to focusing on family life at home for a while.
The good news is, there’ll still be plenty of familiar faces at the buzzy eatery:
“All our wonderful GFTS crew will still be here bringing you all of the lovely coffee, same menus, and good vibes right up to Christmas and beyond so don’t fear things won’t be changing too much!”
