Cork’s new Arc Cinema opens soon with leather recliner seats and a ‘colossal’ screen
It’s the venue formerly known as The Gate.
But Cork’s new Arc Cinema is about to reopen on North Main Street, with a host of new features for local movie buffs.
The Arc, which opens on Thursday, December 14th, has seen the venue closed since August for a comprehensive refurbishment that introduces ultra-luxurious leather electric recliner seats, setting a comfy new standard for moviegoers.
The North Main Street venue will boast state-of-the-art auditoriums, including the premium large format HYPERSENSE screen with immersive Dolby Atmos® surround sound, 4K laser projection, and a colossal screen for an unparalleled audio-visual experience.

In line with Cork’s cinematic legacy, The Gate screen, to be unveiled after Christmas, will uphold an Arthouse Cinema experience, hosting film festivals, showcasing independent films, and presenting engaging live events.
The launch will reintegrate returning staff and introduce 10 new positions across various roles.
