We’ve had a month’s worth of rain in a couple of days.

So you’ll be relieved to hear that we are in for a little relief in Cork this weekend, with some dry weather forecast on Sunday.

As the Storm Babet clean-up continues all over the county, Met Éireann says we can expect scattered heavy downpours today, Friday, prolonged in parts of Munster, but some dry bright spells too.

During the afternoon and evening, rain will spread from the east and north becoming widespread and there is a chance of further localised flooding. Afternoon temperatures will range from 12 to 15 degrees.

There will be further outbreaks of rain tonight with drier and cooler conditions developing by sunrise.

“The last of the overnight rain will clear Saturday morning with bright spells and some scattered showers following.” said a forecaster, predicting maximum temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees.

“It looks set to be dry for many on Sunday with plenty of autumnal sunshine and just the odd passing shower.

“However, during the late afternoon and evening, some showery rain is expected to spread into the west and south which could turn heavy or thundery in places.

Another low-pressure area is expected off the west coast mid-week bringing further wet and potentially windy weather.
