This drive-thru serves Cork coffee, Cork milk, Cork chocolate and Cork cake

By Christina Collins October 16, 2023October 13, 2023

Cork people love Cork.

More than that, we love things that are made in Cork, by Cork people.

This attitude is not only good for the local economy but it’s also great for sustainability as locally-made and consumed products cut down enormously on food miles, which contribute greatly to carbon emissions… there’s method to our Leeside-obsessed madness after all.

In fact, it’s science.

Thrive, a drive-thru and coffee shop is continuously adding to its Cork-made menu with coffee, milk, chocolate, sweet treats, and baked goodies sourced from Rebel County producers.

The Bishopstown cafe is serving up Stone Valley roasted beans, topped with non-homogenised milk from a family farm in the hills of Kilbrittain.

They also use Ó Conaill Chocolate- produced down the road in Carrigaline- and dish out sweet treats from Wazzy Woo in Clonakilty as well as crispy pain au chocolats and cinnamon buns by local bakery Wildflour in Innishannon.

And while not all ingredients for each piece of the puzzle can’t be made 100% locally, there is an effort to source the best ingredients from as close to home as possible.

Chris from Wildflour told Yay Cork that the chocolate he uses in his delicious pastries comes from Bean and Goose in Wexford, which has been ranked the world’s most sustainable chocolate producer by the independent Chocolate Scorecard 2023.

We’re loving the commitment.
