A Cork artist has been chosen for the mysterious Art Riddler’s exhibition

By Yay Cork September 26, 2023September 26, 2023

He’s known as ‘Banksy’s rich benevolent twin’.

Now the mysterious Art Riddler, an anonymous patron who is putting together an exhibit at Studio 10 in Dublin this October, has chosen a Cork artist to support.

Sophie Gough has been chosen to participate in the upcoming Art Riddler Exhibit, joining the final 50 artists chosen from over 680 entries.

The final artists were selected through a rigorous and highly confidential process, with the secretive Art Riddler himself overseeing the selection.

The chosen artists represent a wide range of artistic styles, backgrounds, and perspectives, reflecting the Art Riddler’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity within the art community and include David Hamilton, Mary O’Connor, Peter Smyth, Sophie Vigne Welsh, and Andrea Kavanagh.

“My wish is to uncover hidden talents and celebrate the beauty of artistic expression. Choosing the final 50 artists for this exhibit was a journey filled with discovery and awe,” said Art Riddler

“Each artist’s work spoke to me in a unique way, and their dedication to their craft is nothing short of inspiring.”

“I believe that art has the power to connect people, transcend boundaries, and evoke emotions and these 50 artists exemplify that belief. I am excited to share their diverse voices and visions with the Irish public through this upcoming exhibit.”

On the Friday night of the exhibit, one artist will be announced as the overall winner receiving €10,000, and another five will also automatically qualify for the next exhibit in 2024.
