The evenings are getting shorter.

But as the darkness begins to settle ever earlier, a fascinating little series of events will likely lure history fans and curious minds out of the house this autumn.

“National Museum of Ireland Mother and Baby Home Co-ordinator, Donna Louise Rose, artist Maureen Considine, and writer Rachel Andrews will present a round table discussion examining the history and societal implications of control over the liberties of both women and the family.” a museum spokesperson said.

This event is not suitable for younger audiences and booking is essential as places are limited. Email the museum at museum@corkcity.ie to book your spot.

Upcoming night events include Life in the Roman World on September 21st, Cork Life: From Viking to Victorian on September 28th, and Cork and the Great War on October 5th.
