Listed at €2.6m, this Kinsale hideaway boasts some of the most spectacular views in town

For this money, you’d expect a decent view.

But perch yourself beside any window in any room of Joaney’s Garden on Kinsale’s swanky Compass Hill and you can slurp your fill of juicy vistas all day and night.

The dreamy four-bedroom, four-bathroom property, which overlooks the stunning Kinsale Harbour, is on the market at €2.6m.

The home of well-known estate agent Victoria Murphy, the first woman to hold an auctioneers license in Ireland, the property is in the capable hands of her daughter, Johanna Murphy of Johanna Murphy & Sons.

It’s not the only family connection; the home and its dreamy wrap-around patio were designed by Kinsale-based architect Richard Rainey, who also happens to be Victoria’s brother.

Inside, handsome woodwork and panelling in the hallways give the place the feel of a fine old ship and you can keep an eye on the nautical comings and goings in the harbour below from almost every room.

A modern new kitchen and formal dining room will appeal to keen cooks and there’s also a bright, pretty breakfast area to read the papers over coffee when the weather is too chilly for the patio.

A unique lounge and TV room is surrounded by lush greenery on all sides (what a treat to throw open the French doors for a blast of sea air).

The bedrooms are decorated with a maximalist approach and plenty of personality, with a hand-painted mural creeping along the walls of the huge main bathroom. You can enjoy that and even more garden views, from the freestanding tub.

A double driveway and established landscaping makes Joaney’s Garden an extra special hideaway just a ten-minute stroll from all of Kinsale’s award-winning restaurants, bars, and shops.

Of course, the Kinsale Yacht Club Marina is a stone’s throw from the property too if you need to access your yacht on a whim,
