You can catch some trad for free at the Crawford Gallery this weekend
An iconic venue for an iconic woman.
Officially, St. Brigid’s Day falls on February 6th this year and for the first time in our history, the date is being marked with a bank holiday.
The day, which honours Ireland’s matron saint and ushers in spring, is customarily marked by traditional music, singing, and dancing and The Crawford Gallery is hosting a series of events over the weekend to celebrate all that she represents.
On Monday, February 6th, the gallery will treat visitors to live traditional music, set to echo throughout the entire space.
You can enjoy the tunes as you explore the collection’s themes of women, nature, and mythology, or just sit and take it all in with a coffee in hand.

Other events include the newest installment of Music at Midday in the lovely surroundings of the Gallery’s iconic Long Room on Sunday, February 5th. The performance will feature the opening movements from Franz Schubert’s dramatic yet hauntingly beautiful Death and the Maiden string quartet.
On Monday, the gallery is also hosting an interactive trail in the Gallery for Lá Fhéile Bríde, as well as a workshop, free tour, and an all-day screening of Anatomy of Hope by Rita Duffy.
The trad takes place from 2:30pm-4:30pm. All events are all free of charge, and no booking is required.
