Flood warning as Met Éireann’s Status Orange rain alert remains in place all day

It’s pretty soggy out there.
Met Éireann’s Status Orange rain warning for Cork and Waterford remains in place until 3am Monday morning, with Cork expecting a thorough soaking for most of the day.
According to forecasters, “persistent heavy rainfall with isolated thunderstorms will cause disruption and localised flooding.”
There will be heavy and persistent rain this morning with some thundery downpours in many areas but there is a chance of a brief respite in the afternoon when some drier intervals and a few brighter spells will develop.
It will remain humid and breezy with highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees.
Tonight will bring some showery outbreaks of rain in the southeast, but otherwise we can expect it to be mostly dry with some clear spells.
“On Monday, showery rain will gradually die out in the east. Further spells of rain will generally break up as the rain moves south through the afternoon with some sunny spells developing by evening.” said a forecaster.
“Top temperatures will range from 17 to 21 degrees but turning fresher by evening in moderate northerly breezes.”
