Cork International Choral Festival will make a welcome return to the streets and stages of the city and county later this month and this year there’s a brand new Fringe Festival to enjoy too.
The five-day celebration of singing will run for five days from April 27th to May 1st, 2022, with some extra events planned for music fans who fancy a day by the sea in Cobh.
For the first time, the Fringe Festival will see two choral concerts featuring visiting international choirs taking place on the May Bank Holiday weekend in Cobh Cathedral (Thursday 1.10pm) and The Sirius Art Centre (Friday 1.10pm).
Rounding off the Cobh Fringe Festival will be a pop-up choral trail winding from Cobh Heritage Centre to the Band Stand and finishing in the Rob Roy Bar starting at 1pm on Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May 1st.
Also to be crowned over the course of the festival will be Ireland’s Choir of the Year, The Ibec Workplace Choir of the Year, and Irelands School Choir of the Festival.
Singers from all over Ireland, Europe, and beyond will participate in gala performances, national and international trophy competitions and fringe concerts, while workshops and free public performances take place in more than 90 venues throughout Cork city and county, some of which will manifest in new and unexpected locations, so keep your eyes peeled.
Festival tickets are now live on corkchoral.ie.
