Kids are loving this new historical walking tour of Cork

History is boring.
At least, that’s what we often assume children think.
However, a new walking tour is bringing old stories of Cork’s often overlooked citizens to life and making history very interesting indeed. In fact, your kids will never guess it’s educational.
This is Cork Tours brings kids aged between eight and 12 on a guided exploration of the city centre, and shows them what it was like for children their own age at different points in Cork’s history.
The tour specifically educates young walkers on the kinds of sweets and games that children would have enjoyed in different times during Cork’s History. They also enjoy some treats, examine old photographs and hear a few facts along the way.
The immersive experience has received rave reviews from participants in recent weeks, with Freya (age nine) saying “It was so interesting. I loved trying the honeycomb”. Sarah (aged: grown-up), said that because she wasn’t from Cork “it was very interesting to learn so much about the city.”
The tour is operated by Ronan Leonard of Ringo Music Bingo fame and typically takes between 60-75 minutes, covering approximately 1.6km in distance.
Information for upcoming tours can be found on Eventbrite here or on Facebook.
