Omniplex Ireland apologise after Mahon Point incident

The issue has now been resolved.
Omniplex Ireland has issued an apology after movie-goers in Cork were sent home without seeing the hotly anticipated new Spider-Man movie.
The third film in the MCU Spider-Man trilogy is receiving rave reviews and tonnes of hype, and with cinemas operating a 50% capacity, fans of the series have had to secure their tickets well in advance.
Sadly, there was disappointment for some of those in fans in Cork yesterday, when they were informed several screenings at the Omniplex in Mahon Point wouldn’t be going ahead, after they had already been sitting in the cinema for “an hour and a half.”
Some fans took to social media to voice their displeasure, with one saying: “What an apsolute [sic] joke. Cork Omniplex can’t work #SpiderManNoWayHome. After hour and a half, they tell us we have to leave.”
Omniplex Ireland issued a statement apologising for the fiasco.
“Unfortunately, a technical issue today in our Mahon Point cinema impacted some Spider-Man: No Way Home screenings. All customers affected have been offered a refund & we apologise for the inconvenience. This issue has since been resolved & further shows are resuming as scheduled.”
