To Washington Street (and the tiki café serving up the prettiest breakfasts in town)

Breakfast, but make it pretty.
If you like your first meal of the day to look like a little art installation on a plate, make a beeline for Washington Street in the morning.
At New Zealander Trinette Porter’s new café Tiki Poke, the menu is stuffed full of healthy, nutritious options that truly are as good as they look.

While the main event at Tiki Poke is the mouthwatering lunchtime poke bowls (a traditional Hawaiian dish made with fresh veggies, meat, fish or fruit, and a variety of toppings) the restaurant is already expanding its menu of ‘Pacific Ring of Fire’ flavours.
The smoothie bowls (main image), mounds of granola stacked next to chopped kiwi, strawberries, banana and yogurt and scattered with toasted coconut, already have a loyal fan base come opening time at 8am.
The next addition to the menu is avocado toast topped with additions such as sun-ripened tomatoes and juicy mandarin oranges, sprouts and poached egg.

Trinette and her Cork-born hubby Humphrey, who own the well-known coffee shop Cafe Depeche, also do sushirritos, which are essentially a sushi roll with the heft of a sandwich – ideal for satisfying lunchtime hunger pangs.
Tiki Poke opens daily from 8am to 2.30pm on Washington Street. Find them on Instagram/tikipokecompany.
