The Donkey Sanctuary is welcoming visitors again (but you must pre-book your ticket)

They’ve been rescuing abandoned donkeys since 1987.
Now, after a tough battle for survival during the lockdown, The Donkey Sanctuary in Liscarroll, Mallow, has reopened its gates to the public two days a week, albeit with some new social distancing rules in place.
Knockardbane, the charity’s Open Farm, is home to over 130 friendly donkeys and mules, just some of more than 1,800 in the sanctuary’s care (660 rescued donkeys live in guardian homes throughout the country).

You can stroll around and learn about their personalities and look into adopting a donkey to help support them.
“A limited number of tickets to visit the Open Farm can be booked for morning or afternoon sessions on Thursday or Friday each week during July and August 2021. One ticket gives access to one car/people carrier with up to seven occupants.” the Sanctuary management explained.
You can book in for one of two sessions on both days:
Tickets are free of charge, but it has been a difficult year for this amazing facility and donations help them continue their vital work so give what you can and donate online here.
If you require a wheelchair parking space call 022 48398 after you have booked your ticket and your parking space will be reserved.
