By Yay Cork February 18, 2021February 18, 2021

We’re in for a wet and windy 24 hours.

Met Éireann has issued a pair of Status Yellow weather warnings for Cork, Kerry and Waterford, both of which kick in tonight.

Forecasters say heavy rain on Thursday night and Friday “may cause some river flooding and localised surface flooding. Rainfall totals of 30 to 40mm, higher in mountainous regions.”

“Strong southerly winds on Thursday night and Friday with mean speeds of 50 to 60km/h and gusts of 80 to 100km/h. There remains a possibility of localised coastal flooding.” said a forecaster.

Both alerts are valid from 9pm tonight until 4pm on Friday, February 19th.

It will be very wet and windy on Friday morning, with further falls of heavy rain giving a continued risk of localised flooding.

“It will become drier in the afternoon with rain clearing to showers with bright spells in west Munster. Mild with highest temperatures of 10 or 11 degrees. Strong to gale force southerly winds will ease moderate during the afternoon.”
